What are the changes PMP in 2020!

Over the years the job of a Project manager has changed, which has resulted in bringing a change in PMP exams as well. PMI conducts research every 3-5 years understanding how the profession has progressed over the days. The impact of emerging trends, and how the responsibilities of project managers have changed. In the last round of this research that was conducted in 2015 that can be seen in the current course.

Subject matter experts from leading organizations around the world have worked with PMI to define PMP and its future. The research reflected a new PMP examination module that was released in 2019 and by the end of 2020, this will lead to an updated PMP exam.



The new exam module would comprise of a basic description of the number question that’ll be asked in the exam. For example, this might state 24% of the questions in the exam about planning. 

PMI on 25th September announced that the new exam changes will NOT take effect from 16 December 2019 as earlier communicated. The changes will take effect from 1 July 2020.

PMP outlines a few new changes covering the new domains:
  • People: People about skills and activities required to be an effective project team leader approximately 42% changes in the people.
  • Process: Reinforcing the technical aspects of managing a project approximately 50% changes in the process.
  • Business Environment: Highlighting the connection between project and organization strategy approximately 8% changes in the business environment.
